Tip #1 — How to Build Your Own Business
A list is something that you manage at all times. You manage its size, your relationship with members, and even how much you earn. Search engines and advertising are great for your business, but a list establishes communication and trust with your readers.
A list is your rock. It is real people who read your newsletters and blog. They also subscribed to your optin-in voluntarily and submitted their email so they could receive your ezines. This indicates they confide or respect your product reviews, suggestions and endorsements. You are building a strong following by building a list for your business. Again, search engine traffic is awesome and you should not quit advertising. However, you can integrate both methods for traffic and create a powerful combination.
Tip #2 — Build a Relationship
Many people will not buy from you unless you build a relationship with them. You will usually have to “presell” to them before they will make a purchase. Why? Most will buy products or services from people they know and trust. You can’t blame them either. In recent years, stolen identity and fraud has been prevalent online.
The good news is that people will join your list because they view it as a lower risk than making a purchase. All they need to do is hand over their e-mail address and they are “in.” This gives you the opportunity to gain their trust and build a relationship that can lead to repeat sales down the road.
Tip #3 — Make A One-Time Customer Into A Lifetime Customer
Many times, the difference between customers who buy from you one time and those who buy from you multiple times is the amount of communication they receive after their initial transaction.
If after customer purchases a product or service from your website they receive follow-up emails from you, it’s an completely different situation. By doing this simple task, you will create a lifetime customer after you consistently deliver tips, resources and updates. If your customer does not hear from for you for a while, they forget about you, your products and services.
I suggest you create a system of ongoing follow-up notices to your customers. If you don’t, you’ll be out of sight and out of mind. There are many other businesses out there that are vying for your customer.
Tip #4 — It’s Easier to Sell to Customers That Know You
People are more likely to buy from someone they have bought from in the past, especially if it was a good experience. If you spend all your time chasing new customers, your profits are going to be far less than if you focus on keeping old customers happy and selling to them over and over again.
What if I don’t have more products to promote? You can send affiliate promotions for complementary products. Promote quality affiliate products that you trust and can vouch for.
Tip #5 — Grow Your Income With a List
There are so many different ways that having a list can add to your bottom line. We’ve already discussed that previous customers are more likely to buy from you, but that’s not where it stops.
Keep in mind that with a list, you can promote weekend sales, special offers and offer coupon codes for discounts. These are all great promotional ideas for your blog or website. Also, you can get people to look at your special offers and new products whenever you’d like. By simply sending an e-mail and you can literally pull in cash on demand.
List Building Essentials to Know
Sometimes, new marketers tend to make many mistakes. Many times, even experienced marketers make these same mistakes. If you rectify these mistakes can create solid everlasting bond with your list rather than a list full of people who simply delete your e-mails and unsubscribe..
Tip #6 – Do Not Purchase Leads
Buying leads, oftentimes, is a waste of money.
Many new marketers getting started online are tempted into buying leads. It seems like easy and profitable strategy but it will not give you the receptive list you are counting on. When you buy leads, the people who you get on your list have likely never heard of you and most of them probably don’t want to hear from you. But when you build your list, these people have either bought your products or subscribed to your ezine. Therefore, they are more likely to buy..
Tip #7 — Don’t Spam People!
It can seem very enticing that all you need to make money is send an e-mail. I’m talking about spamming. Don’t do it. Even if your intentions started off good. Spamming is highly tempting and the laws can be confusing. Spam is when you send unsolicited e-mails to people, and is actually against the law to do. The spam law states that you must make sure that you make it easy for people to unsubscribe from your list (a link at the bottom of the message is best) and that they have subscribed in the first place. You are also required by law to include your postal address with all messages that you send.
Tip #8 — Don’t Wait to Build a List
If you ask established Internet marketers what their biggest regret is, many of them will tell you their regret is that they did not build a list sooner. It doesn’t matter what your online business is – selling ebooks, offering a service, affiliate marketing, creating adsense sites, ecommerce, blogging, or direct selling – you don’t to have a massive website with tons of traffic to build your list. Many people think that they can put off building a list until they tons of traffic or until they a certain number of subscribers. This is a mistake. Even if you very little traffic and you’re newbie to online business, you need to build associations from the very start need to build a list.
Tip #9 — Create a Relationship First, Think of Profits Later
You need to focus on the creating a relationship with your list first, and think about the profits later. All marketers want to make money, but if constantly bombard their email with offers, you’re going to get a lot of unsubscribers and upset many people.
Your readers signed up for your list in order to get something out of it. Whether it was an e-course, a free e-book, information, discounts, coupons, announcements, an audio, or something else, they expect to receive a lot of value for being a part of your e-mail list. The money will come, but start working on the relationship first.
Tip #10 — Always Be Consistent
There are many business owners who build a list and then don’t do anything with it. They forget about their leads. All this does is cause your list members to forget about you and that they’ve joined your list in the first place. Worst of all, it causes you to lose potential profits. When you do decide to email them, many of your customers will unsuscribe, mark it as spam or delete your email.
I hope these list tips motivate you to start your list building NOW and not waste any time. It will be one of the most important investments you make for your online business.
